Investors in Volunteers (IiV)

North West Leicestershire Volunteer Centre is now an Investor in Volunteers Partner Agency whose role is to work with voluntary organisations and businesses wishing to achieve the standard.

What is Investing in Volunteers?
Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the national quality standard recognising good practice in organisations’ volunteer management.
The standard is applicable to any volunteer involving organisation with any number of volunteers across the third and public sector.
The standard is based on the four main areas of volunteer management:
• Planning for volunteer involvement
• Recruiting volunteers
• Selecting and matching volunteers
• Supporting and retaining volunteers.
These areas have been divided into 10 indicators, each supported by a range of practices that your organisation needs to be carrying out in order to achieve the Investing in Volunteers award.

Volunteering Opportunities

Does your group need Volunteers or would you like to volunteer?

The Volunteer Centre has a wide range of volunteering opportunities to suit people of all ages (our insurance covers volunteers from the age of 12 to 80).

There are always voluntary organisations in need of volunteers and to list them all here is impossible as we have over 231 opportunities. Visit www.do-it.org.uk to see details of our opportunities, the contact us to find out more about becoming a volunteer. You will be amazed at the variety of opportunities.

A volunteer is anyone with some time to give to help others.

A volunteer can be:

  • Someone who is a student
  • Someone who is a houseperson
  • someone who is retired from paid work
  • People from a variety of ethnic backgrounds
  • People who have a disability[/li]

We offer opportunities for anyone willing to volunteer and match them with the most appropriate opportunity, taking into account when they are available, where they live and their choice of tasks.

Information on volunteering can be obtained from the do-it site and we can send information to you.

You may call in and see us by appointment for a confidential meeting too.
