HANDSTAND
"Working towards a friendlier, more accessible environment for people with disabilities throughout North West Leicestershire"
HANDSTAND , which meets at The Marlene Reid Centre, continues to address the problems all disabled people have in using services provided and its members carry out access surveys on public buildings and tourist attractions etc.
Topics for discussion include:
- Access to buildings
- Transport
- Education
- Leisure
- Housing
HANDSTAND seeks to:
Raise awareness of disabilities issues
Consult and liaise with other individuals, organisations and local authorities
Carry out access surveys of shops and public buildings in North West Leicestershire and produce access guides
Promote equal opportunities and anti-discrimination, including training
Offer practical advice on access matters to individuals, professional bodies and other interested parties
New members are always welcome and transport can be provided on request
